We are surrounded with so much marketing that it is no surprise that we are becoming duped by it! Yet, there are ‘…31 named practices that are banned under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations (2008).’ These practises cover promotions, marketing and advertising.
If a trader is undertaking an activity banned by the regulations, you can report them to Trading Standards, who may decide to take action against them, including getting your money back if a trader has misled you or behaved aggressively towards you.
